Decoda Chamber Music Festival 2022 Information

General information:

DCMF will take place on the campus of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Tuition for the program will be $2150.
$650 for single rooms or $468 for shared doubles
$376 for three meals a day on campus at the Lawrence University dining hall

  • A limited number of competitive, fully-funded fellowships are available. To apply for a fellowship, submit a personal statement detailing your chamber music experience, community engagement background, and any other information that you would like to share about yourself. We also require a letter of recommendation.
    Submit your fellowship materials by February 15, 2022 to DCMF@decodamusic.org.

  • Limited need-based scholarships are also available. In order to apply for a scholarship, applicants will need to supply a letter of need as well as the first two pages of their (or their parents’) most recent tax return. Submit your scholarship materials by February 15, 2022 to DCMF@decodamusic.org

  • Preformed ensemble fellowships - fellowships are given on an individual basis, not by group. Each member of a pre-formed ensemble who wishes to apply for a fellowship must also submit one solo video in addition to the group’s videos, along with the normal fellowship application.

Application Requirements:

Applications are open to strings, winds, and piano, as well as pre-formed ensembles.
Submit videos of two contrasting works representing different time periods. If the selection is taken from a multi-movement work, applicants need only prepare one movement of the piece. Upload performances to YouTube and submit links in your application. Pre-formed ensemble members wishing to apply for a fellowship must submit one solo video. The application fee is $60.

  1. Who will be on faculty at DCMF this summer?
    Faculty this summer will include Catherine Gregory, flute; Alicia Lee, clarinet; Brad Balliett, bassoon; Clara Lyon, violin; Nate Schram, viola; Claire Bryant, cello; Kris Saebo, bass; and Michael Mizrahi, piano. Additional guest artists may be added soon! Keep checking back for more information.

  2. Where will performances be held?
    There are many opportunities to perform at DCMF! This summer, participants will perform on campus at Lawrence Memorial Chapel, as well as in several venues in the community of Appleton.

  3. What is the age limit?

  4. When do I arrive and depart?
    Check in will be on Sunday July 24 between 1-4pm. Check out is by 11am on August 6.
