On Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 7:30pm ET, Decoda—the Affiliate Ensemble of Carnegie Hall, returns to the stage at Weill Recital Hall in New York City for a vibrant program of mixed instrumentation chamber music. Anchoring the performance is the world premiere of anonymous beneath the lemon trees for Soprano and Ensemble by Michael Hersch (featuring the acclaimed soprano, Alice Teyssier). Additionally, audiences will dive into the dark and zany world of Gilad Cohen’s The Last Battle of King Sorrow and Joy Guidry’s graphic score of love and frustration, Y’all don’t want to listen. Threading these pieces together are three new versions of Alice Jones’s miniature, Dark is a way. Full of drama, excitement, and surprises, this concert highlights the urgency of hearing new works.
