Laura Weiner, horn

Laura Weiner is a passionate horn player and advocate for classical music based in New York City. An experienced chamber musician, orchestral performer, and teaching artist, she is an alumnus of Ensemble Connect, a fellowship program of Carnegie Hall and the Juilliard School. A high-altitude native of Colorado, she received her Bachelor of Music degree summa cum laude from Northwestern University, and her Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a University Fellowship.

Laura has performed with diverse musical groups from the New York Philharmonic to Alarm Will Sound, and is a member of chamber ensembles Decoda and Genghis Barbie. She regularly performs a wide variety of concerts across New York City in venues like Lincoln Center, Trinity Church, and public school auditoriums. She was a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall under Robert Spano, and has performed at the Bravo! Vail Festival, Bay Chamber Concerts, Marlboro Music Festival, and Norfolk Chamber Festival.

In addition to performing, Laura is enthusiastically devoted to education and community work. She teaches horn at the Longy Conservatory of Music, music appreciation to elementary students for the New York Philharmonic, and piano to incarcerated students at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. Laura’s recent Decoda project that paired teenagers with NYPD officers to create songs received national news attention. When she isn’t rehearsing or performing, Laura heads to the mountains to rock climb, hike, and snowboard.
