“Building Bonds” Songwriting Project

In pursuit of a more just relationship between police and their communities, Decoda led a two-year collaborative songwriting project with NYPD officers and teenagers from the Police Athletic League. Participants worked in small groups with Decoda musicians to write original songs and perform them live for packed halls at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Room and the Police Athletic League’s Harlem community center. Said one participant of the experience, “This changes lives and builds confidence! This outcome is what is needed in our communities.”
