Residency in Camden, SC

  • Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County Wood Auditorium, 810 Lyttleton Street Camden, SC 29020 (map)

Decoda returns to one of our many 'homes away from home' - Camden, South Carolina. Our residencies in Camden over the years have been a way for us to develop our work in education and community engagement.

Our fall residency brings a mixed ensemble of flute, cello, and piano, with gorgeous repertoire from diverse composers and styles: from Haydn to Martinu, Gaubert to Prokofiev.

We will spend three days traveling the back roads of Carolina, bringing interactive performances to six elementary schools across Kershaw County. During these 45-minute engaging performances, third and fourth graders will flex their artistic and creative muscles, exploring the intersections between visual art and music. How do composers use color, texture, motion, and density to create a piece of musical art?

Our culminating performance is presented by the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County, and we look forward to sharing these unique and colorful works with you!

Catherine Gregory, flute  -  David Kaplan, piano  -  Claire Bryant, cello
